Michael represents clients throughout the upper Midwest in aviation, products liability, insurance, and general liability lawsuits.  He has tried numerous cases in both state and federal court over the past 40 years.

In the area of products liability, he has defended cases involving surgical implements, prosthetic implants, infusion pumps, insulin pumps, pelvic mesh, wheelchairs, textiles, aviation components, fire extinguishing equipment, farm implements, and numerous other products.  He also has extensive experience in the defense of product liability claims against food manufacturers and distributors, both as individual claims and as mass torts.  He frequently defends agricultural claims arising out of chemical contamination.

Michael was among the first lawyers in Minnesota certified as a Civil Trial Specialist, a group of less than one percent of Minnesota attorneys.

Michael holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV rating, and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.  For several consecutive years, he has been voted a Minnesota Super Lawyer, chosen from the top five percent of attorneys practicing in Minnesota
